Thanks for the update, islander. How sad to hear the Cockatoo has fallen on its swordfish, so to speak. (I'd heard rumors to that effect this summer.)

Incidentally, have you tried Jonathan Chase's Buck's Restaurant in Brooksville?

Again, thanks so much for your comments, and thanks for reading.

You really need to go back for an update because in 3 years the Cockatoo has gone to hell. We were big fans once upon a time. Her famous lobster roll has only about 2 oz of lobstah in it now. The service is worse than ever. For such a gorgeous location, they put in the tackiest signage this summer and also serve some of the meals with paper/plastic instead of real plates. You really should return anonymously to update your review.

Greetings, Kate. So nice of you to write. I look forward to reading your comments, and invite you to view my other Maine posts. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a pleasant vacation!

Well, hello. Found your blog when I was doing a search for the restaurant. We've never been to the island before and our rental cottage is just across the cove from here. We arrive next weekend. So wonderful to read your review! Sounds like a great place to have our one nice meal out. Cheers!
